An ideal school is a school with great leadership.

It is crucial for every school to have a solid leadership in order to provide quality education to our learners. In an attempt to support our schools in transformation to become an ‘ideal schools’, Star For Life conducted a series workshops to equip teachers’ with leadership skills to deal with obstacles they face in schools.

The workshops were run from the 9 to the 11 April 2013. Idlilanga Technical High School, Gilonki and eQakwini High School were the schools that participated in these workshops.

The purpose of the workshops was to create an opportunity for teachers’ to reflect on areas where their schools need attention the most in order to add on their past achievements, to inspire educators to continue striving for excellence and ownership in transformation of schools to become an ‘ideal school’ which is our newly adopted strategy that helps learners to reach their full potential in terms of academic excellence, self-esteem, health awareness and emotional health.

Jean Daniel Kabati the Star For Life Programmes Manager said, ‘It was amazing to see passion and commitment from the teachers’ as they worked together to come up with informed solutions to challenges they are faced with on daily basis in schools’.

Mr Mbele the Principal from iDlilanga Technical High School said they were grateful of the opportunity given by Star For Life to work together in transformation of their schools into ‘model schools’.

These workshops will continue in other Star For Life supported schools for the whole month of May.
