Preparations in the final stage for the Third Star for Life Youth Dialogue in Johannesburg.

The third Star For Life Youth Dialogue symposium will be held on Friday, the 15th August 2014 at the Change Bible Church in Katlehong. About three hundred and forty four learners from the Star For Life partnered schools in Johannesburg are expected to take part in discussions. Key discussions on the following range of topics will take place as this dialogue. Topics include; unemployment, poverty, moral regeneration and entrepreneurship. The theme for this years Youth Dialogue is ‘Creating a brand that you can be proud of.’

These young aspiring leaders will not only discuss these issues among themselves but they will also have a chance to interact with experts from several government departments, youth organizations and non-profit organizations.

 

Following the successful Youth Dialogue of 2013, the Star For Life coach Cebisile Nene said the aim of this year’s symposium is to inspire young people to create a brand that they can be proud of despite the challenges. “We aim to inspire young people to rise above their challenges and become great leaders of their communities”, said Nene.

 

The Star For Life Area Manager in Johannesburg, Mr. Sicelo Mathenjwa said; “This platform will give young aspiring leaders an opportunity to voice out their thoughts and they will also engage with stakeholders. They will discuss solutions to the challenges facing youth of today and are expected to go back to their schools and implement programmes aiming to fight challenges facing youth,” said Mathenjwa.

 

The symposium has the full support and backing of the Department of Education. Schools that will take part in this symposium are; Palmrigde Combine School, Edenpark Secondary School, Lethukuthula Secondary School, Fumana Comprehensive School, Alafang Secondary School, Mpilisweni Secondary School, Ekatseng Secondary School, Mpontseng Secondary School, Greenfields, Winile, Zonkizizwe, Windwill Park, Ilinge and Ponego Secondary School.
